Lazy Thinking is an independent music organisation providing practical support to independent and emerging artists.

Originally established as a live music venue in Dulwich Hill, we now run artist residencies, provide free equipment for DIY shows, coordinate short-term artist accommodation, deliver free music education and run a record label and sync service.

Fundraising remains hugely important to Lazy Thinking, but it's only one of the ways we provide free support and resources to independent artists. We also believe that philanthropy doesn't always have to involve money. A huge part of how we now operate is finding and utilising existing resources within our community.

A vacant two-bedroom apartment in Sydney can be an intensely useful resource to a small Melbourne band trying to tour outside their city for the first time. It could be the difference between touring and not touring. A spare bedroom can save an artist hundreds of dollars. A PA sitting unused in someone's garage can allow somebody else to put on their first backyard show. A mixing desk temporarily loaned to somebody can be every bit as useful as giving them the money to hire one.
