ARTIST ACCOMMODATION
Lazy Thinking Artist Accommodation provides free short-term accommodation for independent and new and emerging musicians in greater Eora/Sydney.
Accommodation costs can make touring, recording, performing and taking up other opportunities prohibitively expensive for independent artists. Artists can also sometimes find themselves temporarily without somewhere suitable to stay.
We think it’s one of the main cost issues independent and emerging artists face and we want to provide a network that can help. The program uses the apartment already provided through the Lazy Thinking Artist Residency when it is available, alongside a growing network of Lazy Thinking supporters who have volunteered spare rooms, granny flats, apartments and other suitable spaces.
Accommodation is provided free of charge.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The program is open to independent musicians aged 18 and over who need short-term accommodation.
This might include artists who are:
touring or travelling for shows
coming to Sydney for recording, rehearsals or another creative project
taking up an artistic or professional opportunity
between tour dates
temporarily without suitable accommodation
facing another circumstance where the cost or availability of accommodation is preventing them from continuing their work
Priority will be given where we think providing accommodation can make a meaningful difference to an artist's ability to continue making, performing or developing their work.
Accommodation is subject to availability and we cannot guarantee that we will be able to meet every request.
